I don’t.

I see four different stories.

I see a young man smiling with hope. When I photographed this over a year ago, I never noticed he was holding someone’s hand. Looking at it today… I believe it’s his mother. Suddenly, this isn’t just a portrait anymore. It’s a story about love… and maybe about the day children begin taking care of the people who once took care of them.

Then I notice the older man walking ahead. His face, his beard, his turban… they make me wonder how many countries he’s crossed, how many sacrifices he’s made, how many stories he’ll never tell me.

And finally, I see the youngest one.

He’s the only person who’s out of focus.

Not because my camera missed him…

But because he was looking at his phone instead of looking at the world around him.

Yesterday I just went out to buy in #goldenbc
Almost nothing was open. The town was empty, just a few cars passing by.

And I thought… “I should bring my camera.”

So I went back and grabbed my Nikon Z9.
A camera that took me years of work and a lot of investment… but one that completely changes how you see the world.

Because the problem isn’t having a good camera.
The problem is not knowing how to see.

Three years ago I started learning photography as a language: vertical lines, horizontal lines, composition… principles I picked up through architecture that help organize chaos.

And suddenly, an empty street isn’t just a photo anymore… it becomes a clean, structured story.

It’s not the camera.
It’s how you choose to see.

Yesterday I just went out to buy in #goldenbc

We’ve been working on a project that is not for a moment — but for a lifetime.

If our work can help protect cougars in any way, then every hour, effort, and sacrifice is worth it.

This has now become a documentary called “Puma Kalfun”, meaning “Cougar Protectors.”

What started as an idea is slowly taking shape, and we’re beginning to see its real potential.

Right now, we are waiting for support from the Trebek Initiative, along with National Geographic and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, and we’re hopeful to hear back this month.

But regardless of the outcome, we will keep going.

Because this is bigger than funding or recognition — it’s purpose, and it’s about protecting a species that cannot speak for itself.

The place.

The words.
And while I watched them…
I kept thinking that one day…
it would be my turn.

From that moment, I knew I had to do it right.
In January 2026, we traveled to Torres del Paine.
I had it all planned.
That was the place.

I Spent 12 hours tracking pumas that day.
I was tired.
My eyes were closing on their own.
For a moment I thought…
maybe tomorrow.
But I had given my word.
And that day… it had to happen.
At her favorite spot.
With the wind of Patagonia.
With my son there, not fully understanding.
I read words that made me shake more than I imagined.
I got down on one knee.

That day I learned something I always knew as a photographer…
but never as the one proposing:
These moments don’t come back.
